Pacers' Failure Of Execution & Leadership Occurred Well Before Game 3

Pacers' Failure Of Execution & Leadership Occurred Well Before Game 3![]() As has become a regular feature in the social media age, immediately after a highly watched games like Game 3 of Pacers-Heat Eastern Conference Finals began the search for scapegoats. Much like many other nights, the spotlight soon focused on Indiana coach Frank Vogel, ostensibly for not figuring out a way to have his starting unit match-up with Miami's small-ball bombsquad of Norris Cole, Ray Allen, Dwyane Wade, LeBron James and Chris Bosh. Because teams without Dirk Nowitzki have been extremely successful at picking that lock.

Make or Miss Podcast #20: Post-Combine, Post-Lottery with Dean![]() After last weekend's draft combine in Chicago and Tuesday's draft lottery, as well as the several day gap between games 2 and 3 in the Conference Finals, we figured it would be a decent time to talk draft prospects with Dean Demakis of DeanOnDraft. Thankfully, we moved past the fact that I'm a little higher on Julius Randle now than I was earlier in the year, as that could easily have degraded in Kevin Love Debate 2.0, and people got sad when Rob and I appeared to get testy (it was all love, er, Love, no really, it was!) Anyway, audio and download after the jump: Make or Miss Podcast #19: Coaching Changes and Conference Finals![]() Way late getting this one out there. Rob and I talked on Saturday (I promise, not like I'd lie considering how silly my ECF prediction looks now, especially since I think I forgot Indy had home-court advantage during our discussion). We spent some time on the Kerr and Van Gundy hirings before previewing the Conference Finals matchups and making predictions. Oops.) This podcast is literally earth-shaking as we unintentionally recap the first round before moving on to the games still to come. Obviously, we recorded before today's news that Mark Jackson is out in Golden State. Audio & download after the jump. Make Or Miss Podcast #17: Race, Class, Fandom & Donald Sterling![]() Since the start of the whole sordid Sterling affair, my friend Jacob Greenberg of The Diss has consistently provided some of the more interesting, provocative and insightful on the incident itself as well as the reaction around the league, media and what he called "basketblogosphere." We talked for about 45 minutes on Wednesday night to sort out some thoughts on the various aspects of the incident. The articles we referred to are from Kevin Draper at The Diss, from Kevin McElroy at Hardwood Paroxysm and here from Bomani Jones on the Dan Le Batard show. Audio and download after the jump. |
